From January 16-18,2019, we will be hosting the hands-on surgical course, Innovations in Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery. This course is aimed to develop skills in a broad variety of brain surgery approaches for surgeons.
This course is a comprehensive overview of the concepts of cranial endoscopy as well as multiple endoscopic and minimally invasive corridors of approach to all areas of the brain and skull base which combines 3D anatomical and didactic lectures with hands-on anatomical dissections and protections of: Endoscopic Endonasal Skull Base Surgery, NeuroEndoport® Surgery, Intracerebral Hematoma Surgery (minimally invasive and robotic), and Keyhole Approaches (retromastoid and eyebrow), as well as complications and case selection.
This course is meant to guide participants through the various minimally invasive and endoscopic approaches to brain surgery, in order to help them gain a better understanding of how to access various parts of the brain through these various minimally invasive corridors. This course will help surgeons familiarize themselves with the relevant anatomy, such as the orbit, white matter tracts, and the skull base. In practice they may then gain a better understanding of the best approaches for given conditions.
This course is directed by two world renown neurosurgeons, Melvin Field, MD and Paul Gardner, MD. Dr. Field is the Director of the Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery Program and Co-Director of the Neuro-Oncology Program at Florida Hospital. Additionally, he serves as an associate professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Gardner is the Co-Director of the Center for Cranial Base Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and serves as an associate professor of Neurological Surgery and Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. They will be joined by Johnathan Engh, MD, Juan Fernandez-Miranda, MD, Brian Jankowitz, MD, Carl Snyderman, MD, MBA, and Tonya Stefko, MD.
As we approach the November 15th registration deadline, we encourage you to register today! This course will be an engaging three days of networking and hands-on learning events. We look forward to seeing you in January.
